Traditionally, caskets or coffins are made out of word or metal. Whilst that may be so, the demand fibre glass coffins with marble or faux wood finishing are also steadily increasing. Apart from their elegant appearance, these coffins are also lightweight, making them the preferred choice for infant burials.
When a family has just lost a beloved family member, selecting a casket may seem like a herculean decision to make. In view of the circumstances, making an ideal and rational decision may seem almost impossible. To help ease the emotional burden, engaging with a funeral service provider who can guide them through the purchase decisions may be the safest and ideal approach to take.
Our Casket Selection
Metal Casket
Different metals are used in the making of these caskets, amongst which is copper. Copper metal caskets are one of the more common metal caskets you would find in funerals in Singapore, the other being bronze coffins. The latter is considered to be the most prestigious, and is therefore, more expensive.
These premium quality and rust-proof caskets are priced by weight per foot. However, do note that these metal caskets are not suitable for cremation.
Wooden Casket
Generally used in Buddhist funerals in Singapore, wooden caskets are made from various types of hardwood, ranging from oak, mahogany to veneer. Amongst all the wooden caskets available in the market, the ones made out of mahogany, cherry and walnut are considered to be the most high-end as well as expensive. In comparison, wooden caskets that are made with veneer, pine and poplar typically have a lower price point. The latter are highly common in Singapore.
Green Casket
Environmentalism has taken the world by storm and has influenced several industries, including the funeral industries. Born out of the Green movement, Green caskets are made from eco-friendly materials that will naturally decompose and disintegrate into the Earth. These materials include bamboo, hemp and organic wood. Such caskets have slowly made a space in the Western countries, and we are also considering integrating these caskets into Singapore by studying their feasibility and efficacity. Find out more with us.
Gasketed vs Non-Gasketed Casket
Gasketed caskets come with protective seals that will keep the elements, debris and moisture from getting inside the coffin. This may insinuate a better protection for the bodies, but bear in mind that gas can still freely enter. The body may have better protection, but it doesn’t necessarily mean it’s fully protected. Interior Lining of Casket
The interior of the casket usually has satin, cotton crepe or velvet, satin in a variety of different colors to choose from. We offer an extensive range of colours; check with us to find out more.
